Deering Street Historic District
Deering Street Historic District is a historic district in the downtown and parkside neighborhoods of Portland, Maine. It contains properties on Congress, Deering, Mellen, and State Street. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. This neighborhood has beautiful late Victorian homes, many times built as brick town homes or single family dwellings, such as the Percival P Baxter home at 61 Deering St. There is also the Gothic Revival Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on the corner of Cumberland Ave and Congress St.
